Who am I?
I’m a software engineer with a background in databases, specifically, in-memory database systems. Over the years, I have focused on the systems aspects of databases.
Though, I have spent significant time in the areas of query processing, right now my main interest lays in the areas of making systems scale and work efficiently both with the largest possible datasets and with large scale systems processing this data.
I believe the most challenging and interesting projects actually lay in the intersection between traditional managed storage data processing systems and open data processing engines dealing with arbitrary data in vastly different formats stored in generic blob stores like Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage.
When I’m not dealing with software engineering challenges I love to spend time with my family and my three kids. And in the recent years I have taken on running as a hobby. Don’t expect me to run fast, just far. So far I have completed a couple of marathons, 50ks, several timed 12h and 24h races and one 100k race.
